2025-2026 School Year Tryout Dates
Boys and Girls When: Summer of 2025 First round of tryouts begin Tuesday, 8/5 at 3:30pm at PGA Ronnie Golf Park Driving Range. Select players will be asked back for a second round of tryouts at The Trails of Frisco Golf Club on Wednesday, 8/6 at 6:00pm Time: 8/5 3:30pm, 8/6 6:00pm Where: 8/5 PGA Ronnie Golf Park Driving Range. 8/6 call-backs at The Trails of Frisco Golf Course. Tryout Format Each player will warmup on the range on his or her own on Tuesday, 8/5/25. When the player is ready to be evaluated he or she will bring 15 range balls to the coach that is on the range. The player will hit wedges, short irons, long irons or hybrids, and fairway woods or driver as part of the evaluation process. Once the player has completed the range portion of the tryout, he or she will go to the putting and short game portion of the tryout. After the range, short game, and putting evaluations have been completed, the player will go into the grill area and wait for a coach to go over the evaluation with the player. The coach will let the player know whether or not he or she has advanced to the on-course evaluation the following evening. Coaches will not discuss a player’s evaluation with parents at the tryout. If parents would like to discuss their child’s evaluation they can contact Coach Purl via email to set up a meeting. Players will be financially responsible for their range balls and green fee. The player must present a receipt from the golf shop to be allowed on the golf course if they advance to the 2nd day of tryouts on Wednesday, 8/6/25. On-Course Tryout Info and Rules Players and coaches will keep score on the course. We will follow USGA rules. Any local rule adjustments will be given to the players on the day of the tryout.
Requirements for Tryouts Each player must have a parent or guardian complete the Tryout Acknowledgement Form HERE before he or she will be allowed to participate in the tryout. Players will be financially responsible for their range balls and green fees for the tryout. Additional Info There is not an automatic qualifying score that must be shot at tryouts to make the team. However, boys who shoot over 44 on 9 holes have a very low chance of making the team. Girls who shoot over 50 on 9 holes have a very low chance of making the team.
