2024-2025 Golf Tryouts

Tryout Format
Each player trying out will select one of the evenings listed on the sign-up link to play a tryout round.  Players will select their preferred date.  On your tryout date, players will have an opportunity to hit balls on the range and putt on the practice green and then move to the golf course.  Players will be grouped, tee off, and play no more than 9 holes.  Players will be financially responsible for their range balls and green fee.  The player must present a receipt from the golf shop to be allowed on the golf course.   

Tryout Criteria and Rules
Players and coaches will keep score on the course.  We will follow USGA rules.  Any local rule adjustments will be given to the players before they tee off.  Each player will be evaluated based on his or her score in the tryout round.  
  1. The only adults allowed on the course during the tryout rounds will be Reedy coaches and Reedy school personnel.  
  2. Carts are not permitted for the players.  
  3. Players must complete at least 5 holes in the tryout round.  
  4. If FISD weather policies prevent the golfer from playing the required 5 holes the tryout round will have to be rescheduled.  
  5. Any rulings that need to be made on the course will be made by the Reedy coaches in coordination with the Trails of Frisco golf professionals.  


Additional Info
Players will only be allowed to participate in one evening of tryouts.  Players will be contacted the week of July 22 with the results of their tryout.  This contact will be to the phone number provided on the Sign-Up Genius form.  

There is not an automatic qualifying score that must be shot at tryouts to make the team.  However, boys who shoot over 42 on 9 holes have a very low chance of making the team.  Girls who shoot over 50 on 9 holes have a very low chance of making the team.  Consideration will be given to the player’s school grade level when decisions are made.
